Our garden ~ May 28, 2006


Well, I remember working in the yard one Sunday, and a preacher came by saying, "You shouldn't be laboring on Sunday." And I replied, "But gardening makes me think of Adam in the Garden of Eden."

"You have no civil liberties if you are dead," said Senator Pat Roberts--again--on May 18.

I shall paraphrase the NRA: "You shall pry my civil rights from my cold, dead hands." I shall now quote Patrick Henry (a Founding Father if ever there was one): "Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!" One last quote: "...with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor."

Who protected us on that fateful morning five years ago? Neither the president, nor his fawning, obsequious Congress, nor his bedroom-intruding Judiciary, nor his vaunted military, nor his communication-monitoring, super-secret security agencies could. Only the passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 over Shanksville, Pennsylvania demonstrated "the right stuff" that day. And they didn't even have security clearances.

Here's the correction: a dodecahedronis a twelve-sided solid with each plane having five edges; it is the icosahedron that has twenty sides with each plane having three edges.

Now, what I hate is when people assuming I'm trying to be an asshole when I'm simply ignorant of the facts. I'm more than willing to admit an error.
