Lesson Plan for Supreme Court Online

1.  Referring to the site on the current Supreme Court Justices (http://www.oyez.org ), read about one justice, and locate the following information: · Name of justice: ____________

2.  Go to (http://oyez.nwu.edu/justices/justices.cgi )  Choose the justice you looked up, then click on “Case Participation.”  Choose one case he/she has heard, and read the “abstract” of the case. Summarize (1) the facts of the case, (2) the legal question being heard, (3) the conclusion by the court -the decision, and (4) why you would agree or disagree with that particular case.

3. Go to The Supreme Court - A Journey Through Time at (http://www.courttv.com/multimedia/supremecourt/index.html), and inform yourself on one phase of the Supreme Court (i.e.  either  1810, 1860, or 1935 to present.)  List ten significant/ important facts you learn from this “tour.”

4.  Take a virtual tour of the Supreme Court at (http://oyez.nwu.edu/tour/index.html ).  Write down ten interesting facts you learned.
